The Iranian Conflict June 2009

The header of the Nina Simone Birthplace weblog, a BnESCO project, remains green in solidarity with supporters of those who seek to exercise their universal rights to assemble and engage in free speech in the Islamic Republic. We join others worldwide who call on the Iranian government to stop all violent and unjust actions against its own people.

BnESCO Young Entrepreneurs at Lilac Wine, Tryon

The first meeting of the Young Entrepreneurs hosted by BnESCO was held at Lilac Wine in Tryon on Thursday, June 11.  (L to R) Chris Miller, Patrick Bryant and Daniel Flores joined Margaret M. Feagan in a discussion of the unique challenges facing young entrepreneurs 18 - 30 including confronting barriers to success, access to capital, bad credit/rebuilding credit, instilling trust, age issues and overcoming stereotypes.  The group discussed the importance of team building and networking, as well as motivation, determination, consistency, independence, and a return to honest business practices.  Creating a healthy balance between work and home, engaging in organic growth, grass-e roots, and viral marketing were also discussed.  The Young Entrepreneurs meets each Thursday at 6:00 pm at Lilac Wine in downtown Tryon, North Carolina and is sponsored by BnESCO.  New members and guests are always welcome and encouraged to participate.  The meetings are designed as networking/idea-testing/thought-labs.  Join us soon!  MMF

You can't fake this

The open package and smile on Yvonne's face tells the whole story as she is seen here sitting with the Cultural Exchange Package from the Tryon Doll Makers sponsored by BnESCO.  Seen here too in the top photo are the added contents of art and school supplies for the children of the Accra, Ghana neighborhood where she lives.

To everyone who continues to work to make this project a success -- as they say in Ghana, "AYEE-KOO" (well done).
